A Lonely Yorkshireman

The contradicting ramblings of a sodding old fool

I love you more than hamburgers
I love you more than cake
More than any holiday
I could ever take.

I love you more than chocolate
I love you more than wine
More than taking photographs
or fishing rivers fine.

I sometimes am a silly man
I make you laugh in bed
I’m stubborn, old, disorganised
Bit nutty in the head

I think of you my lovely lass,
my beautiful desire
You are my smile, my laugh, my love
It’s you, it’s you, you’re hired!

Uncertain

In the midst of my despair,
when darkest dawn arose
a hand so small and fair,
a girl with Irish hair,
sweet angel of the west, said:
‘Lets go buy some clothes.’

I felt it in my heart,
a feeling I’d forgot,
from dark & desperate place
came a smile upon my face.

She loves me true, she loves me not.
How would I know, when I’m forgot.

Her eyes go here, her eyes go there,
as long as hands go nowhere else
I’ll be a happy man my dear.

Now don’t you fear
I’m not so bad.
You’ll see when finally
that Simon lad comes back to you
and let’s you know
if Yorkshire is
where you will go.

For now let time play fickle hand.
I’ll wait here in this rainy land
for you and me and what will be.

Hopefully… eternity.

Yeah baby!

You and me in bed yeah baby!
Nothing could be more divine.
You and me in bed oh baby,
knowing you are truly mine.

Come and take my hand sweet darling.
Come and walk with me a while.
Life can be quite hard for lovers.
I will carry you a mile.

Come sit next to me now Mrs,
right here on our fav’rite chair.
Let’s page through our albums hunny,
laugh at what we wore last year.

Take me in your arms my lover,
nowhere else would I now be.
Lying in your arms my angel,
feeling all your love for me.

Get down on one knee now lady,
show me how you do want me.
Offer me a ring oh baby!
It’s… a Haribo… I… see. :-/

The point of it all

leave a comment »

The world is not what it seems.
I think we’re being misled.

From the time we can walk and talk
we’re taught about right and wrong.
Some of us work, others will not,
is it all just in your head?

Life is not what it seems.
I think I’m being misled.

Every day might seem the same…
We get out of bed, catch the train,
work as we should and return,
till the day that we’re dead.

I don’t think that’s the point.
The point of it all I mean.

There has to be something more.
Gravity, relativity,
speed of light, dark matter,
endless space, the golden mean…
I can feel it in my core.

What is the point of it all?
We’re born, live, then end?

Is it love?
Are we here to love?

Can the power of love overcome
all the laws and the rules
set by Newton and Einstein
and other great men?

Can we change the future,
the fabric of space and time,
to love, when not doing so
would cause us to end?

Is love the reason I’m here?
Is it why I exist?
Or am I being misled?

Love-a-tee Bop

with one comment

Now listen here you lovely girl!

You have my soul,
I gave my heart
but if you hurt me,
do beware.

You love me, yes…
but doubt me too.
I am not HIM,
THEY are not you!
And this time really is unique.

So “Boo!” to all you doubt and bleugh!

Get over them,
the Johns of old.
I’ve been around the block I’m told,
does that mean I am blind to love?
I’m not!
As you will see my dove.

Sure as my belief in Him above
my feelings have ne’er been so strong.
I’ve loved, I’ve lost, I’ve married too,
not once I’ve longed
to touch, to kiss, to hold
a girl, friend and lover
like you.

Your beak so sharp,
your razor wit,
your awesome mind,
your skin so smooth,
your smile so bright,
your caring heart,
you tear my universe apart!

You float my boat.
You spin my top.
You tease me so.
Oiled lollipop!

So you take care o’er there my pear!
I love you now.
I love you then.
I love you more.
I’ll never stop!

“Be patient!” she says when I loose my patience,
“We…
will be…
together one day!”
The waiting is driving me mad ’cause I want her.
I fear that another will steal her away!

She’s a flirt you see,
a tease of some skill,
and yet, come what may…
she’s proven she wants me and loves me indeed.

But she’s over tttthhhhheeeerrrreeee
and I’m over here.
It’s a catch 22,
a Pandora’s box,
compartmentally mental,
polka dot socks!

This crazy old life sits rocking
and giggling
and chuckling
…at me!

In two years time,
will she be?
Will we?
Oh please,
please tell,
impatiently yours…
me.

What if?

with 2 comments

What if you are good enough?
What if you need more?
What if you don’t settle for
less than you deserve?

When will you decide to leave?
When will heart rule head?
Will you leave to look for love
or stay till sad or dead?

If there’s one question I want to ask today,
one thought to plant in you.
If you’re not with the one you love…
Why not? What’s stopping you?
