A Lonely Yorkshireman

The contradicting ramblings of a sodding old fool

Ten thousand years he’s walked this earth
and lived a hundred lives.
Been father to a thousand kin,
wed a hundred wives.

Through it all he searched for her,
though found her he has not.
A lonely soul on endless quest,
a warrior time forgot.

He used to speak to God to find
the reason for his being.
No answer or revelation came.
No vision could be seen.

No longer will he fear a god
or listen for a voice.
A single mission in his eyes,
his soul has made a choice.

The search for her, his only path,
the reason for his life.
Not life or ego or God’s wrath,
not love for kids or wife.

Nothing can compare to her,
the one his soul demands.
For her he’d give up anything,
his life held in his hands.

Immortal man on endless road,
a quest without an end.
An endless romance lived by one,
searching for a friend.

  1. This poem gave me chills, takes a lot to invoke that kind of reaction. Look forward to more. Wonderful job!

  2. reminds me of a vampire searching for his only soulmate.
in time turns her into an immortal like him .. so that they could live together forever…

    …do make more! ;]
